The Wanderer Journeys began with my decision to leave grad school a year ago. At the time, I felt lost and
uncertain—both as a musician and as a person. I kept asking myself, "What am I worth?" without ever finding
a
clear
answer.
I turned to making this album as a way of searching for one. I wanted to create something for myself: music
I
could
genuinely connect to, regardless of whether anyone else would enjoy it. When I began this project, it felt
like
standing at the edge of an unknown landscape with no destination in sight. I didn’t know how I wanted the
album
to
sound or what message it would ultimately convey. All I knew was that I wanted it to be honest—to reflect my
experiences over the past several years as truthfully as I could.
The Wanderer Journeys draws inspiration from beat makers such as Harrison, Nujabes, and J Dilla, as well as
the
writings of Brandon Sanderson and the anime that has stayed with me over the years. I chose the name for
this
project after reading Sanderson’s depiction of a king walking the same road as a beggar: “Yes, I could have
traveled
quickly. But all men have the same ultimate destination."
The only feature on this project is Pradyu on the track “Anya!” Pradyu and I have known each other since
kindergarten, and it felt right that someone who has been alongside me for so much of my life would be part
of
my
first album.
I’m deeply grateful to anyone who takes the time to listen to this work, and I hope you’re able to find your
own
meaning within it, just as I have.
